Sringeri Kshetra

History: Sringeri Sri Sharadamba Kshetra is also called as 'Srungagiri' on the name of Sage 'RishyaShringa' who did tapas in the place. Sringeri Kshetra has existed before Ramayan. This is located on the bank of 'Thunga' River, Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara Charya established his First Peeta in Sringeri before 12th Century. One day Adi Shankara Charya was traveling through this place he has witnessed a unique sight "A Snake giving shade from the scorching sun to a pregnant frog in labor pains" this is all because of the greatness of the Sage RishyaShringa.

As Sharadamba is a form of Goddess Saraswathi Pilgrim's will do 'Aksharabhysam' for their children, on holy days and weekend we can see a huge crowd. I have done 'Aksharabhysam' for my kids here only.
